MONTREAL -- Chad Johnson has arrived at Alouettes mini-camp in Vero Beach, FL., and will reportedly workout for the team later this afternoon.

On Saturday, Alouettes GM Jim Popp announced that the team has been in talks with the former NFL receiver, and would be giving him an opportunity to workout in front of the team's coaching staff during the team's mini-camp.

“We do expect to meet with Chad Johnson and work him out in Vero Beach, FL this week," said Popp in a release over the weekend.

"Talks did take place and have escalated over the last week.”

Johnson ended his NFL career with 766 career receptions, 11,059 yards and 67 touchdowns.

Funny. Last year when I named Montreal the Thugalettes I never knew they'd try so hard to show it fit. Montreal has absolutely NO consideration of character. They prove it time and time again.

@X Thugalettes? Because they are trying out one former NFLer who had some personality? I can't think of anyone who would warrant you calling that in the first place. I have always thought of the Als as a pretty classy team.

Ricky Williams was a good player and a good team mate. I don't hold him in disrespect. He certainly was not a hotdog.
Nothing wrong with giving Johnson a chance.

Not the first NFL receiver they've looked at and certainly not the last. If he can cut it, use him.

The wrong kind of publicity. A washed up ex-NFL'er not good enough to play anymore, desperately trying to regain the spotlight. Great PR!!

@waybir No such thing a the wrong kind of publicity. Like it or not, the CFL is still a small league that is not on the radar of a lot of players in the states. This story is on Fox Sports homepage. Great PR!! Agreed.

I'm not a big fan of his, but I don't have a problem with him coming up to the CFL. I heard a commentator say that he is taking a spot away from a younger player, but the Als can't really think about that. They have to do whatever to make themselves better.
