TORONTO -- The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced today it has issued the following fines for Week 8 of the 2012 regular season:

Montreal Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo for an attempt to trip an opponent on an interception return during Last Friday night’s game against the Edmonton Eskimos.

Toronto Argonaut linebackers Brandon Isaac and Marcus Ball were each fined for separate dangerous and unnecessary illegal hits away from the play on Calgary Stampeders running back Jon Cornish during last Saturday night’s game.

As per league policy, player fine amounts are not disclosed.

This is getting to be ridiculous, Calvillo attempt to trip the opponent is completely understandable. Isaac hit was as legal as an offensive player crack blocking on a defensive player. Defensive players never get a fair shake whether it's fines from the league or penalties on the field.

To me, the hit on Cornish was legal and legit. The ball had been caught and the play was continuing. Gotta keep your head up. It seems that the powers that be in football are trying to make it a non-contact sport.

was worth it.............cornish had 7 carries for 9 yards after getting smacked by isaac. The calvillo one was very strange indeed.

Calvillo is a great QB and although I believe that his reaction (attempt to trip) was instinctive, it was so blantant that it should have been flagged.
