REGINA -- The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today that Special Teams Coordinator Craig Dickenson has tendered his resignation.

“My decision to resign is based on off-season commitments I have made that I intend to honour and also to a conflict of schedule which could not be worked out,” Dickenson said in a written statement to the Club.

“I appreciate the effort and work of the players and coaches I had the privilege of working with during my two years in Regina.  I want to thank Coach Chamblin for hiring me and supporting me this past season.  I especially want to thank and express my sincere appreciation to Jim Hopson, Brendan Taman, and Jeremy O'Day.  Thank you Rider Nation for your support and enthusiasm these past two years.”

Dickenson joined the Riders in 2011 after spending the previous season with the Oakland Raiders as a Special Teams Assistant.  A well respected coach, Dickenson also had stints with the Calgary Stampeders where he spent seven seasons and the Montreal Alouettes where he spent the 2003 season.

Not sure what to make of Dickenson's exodus. If quoting ''off season commitments'', what does that mean?!?!? Family? Other job interviews, whether it be in the business sector or football related? I'm sure we will connect the dots soon.

Some theories I heard is ''jumping off a sinking ship''. Another one is he wanted to be the HC, and interviewed for it on two occasions.

Either way, something stinks here. Wouldn't surprise me if he's announced as a coordinator/HC in some CIS or NCAA program. Why the haste in departing SASK? He could not be negotiated with, while in SASK, so why not resign your post and examine your options. Does Kent Austin have something lined up for him in 'Hammerville?!?!?

Call Fox or Mulder, cause I know the truth is out there.

But if wanting a prediction for the 2013 CFL season, me thinks Saskatchewan finishes last in the CFL West.

If Kent Austin is smart (and from all reports he is), he won't tinker with the ST in the Hammer who did well under Daley and Osbaldiston. Dickenson could be headed elsewhere though.
