HOT TOPICS OF THE WEEK
Week 2 saw the league rattled by a number of big names going down to injury, and fans quickly took to Twitter to show their concern.
@lere2001 Eskimos SB Adarius Bowman is done for the year. Torn ACL/MCL. Ouch.” Brutal news :S That's 1000+ yards that we need to make up
@MrJamalge Great line about Anthony Calvillo in today's Gazette: "he has started more CFL games than some of his younger teammates have watched". #Als
@CFL_JOE Not many teams have the ability to put in a veteran like @qterback5when they lose their starter #Drew Tate #CFL
@kyleclay @calstampeders Drew Tate was out the sling!!!! Does that only mean a sprain?? We need to know!!!! #DrewTateWeMissYou
@Your_Producer No Drew Tate or Anthony Calvillo Thursday? Could be a battle of the backups! MRI results on Calvillo's shoulder will determine if he starts.
@bwalsh18 Thoughts and prayers go out to Drew Tate. Hope that shoulder heals up soon. #gostampsgo
@BCLionsDen Hope Drew Tate injury isn't serious, one of the great young talents on our league. #CFL #Stampders
@Troy_Gillard A second left shoulder separation in just over a year. Raises a red flag when it comes to Drew Tate. #Calstampeders #CFL
Get well soon guys, we need you back out there!
Since the #CFLShoppingCart was such a big hit last week, Kate McKenna asked fans this week to show off their CFL tattoos using #CFLink. There were a lot of great pictures to choose from, but here are some of the best.
|@TailgateEmpire describes his CFL tattoo as a mountain lion protecting Grey Cup sitting atop skulls of conquered opponents. This was taken when the Grey Cup was brought to his office.||@GlenHerron is a tattoo artist in Edmonton, and tries not to miss a single game. He has a CFL tattoo on his head and "Green Gold" on his knuckles with the Double E (pictured).
||@RoarinOrange got this one on the back of her leg a couple months ago. Ironically, it was paid for by her co-worker, a Riders fan, who also wanted a tattoo but wouldn't do it alone|
THE BEST FROM CFL SOCIAL MEDIA (Twitter and Facebook) DURING GAMES
WPG @ MON
@Mikey_Skriz Dudes should stop eating popcorn before the touch the ball. Back-to-back fumbles and turnovers #CFL #Als #Bombers
@BradleyKarp Nice play by Jovon Johnson to punch that ball out of Bratton's grasp. One thing that can change a game #Als #Bombers #CFL
@bawlfbomber @heartobluegold #Als didn't run it up the middle much but they had the intermediate patterns open on us all night. #Bombers #CFL
@willge87 #Calvillo is shredding the @Wpg_BlueBombers #fridaynightfootball #cfl #tsn #als #bombers
HAM @ BC
Clay Bowling Hamilton secondary needs to lay the lumber to any receiver in their sight, get in their heads about crossing the middle.
Neuro Toxin What can Brown do for you?......help the Lions get a win over the Ticats.
Janice Sutherland Watching Chevon Walker run is a thing of beauty, and downright scary!
Douglas Wayne Pearce BC is going to pick the secondary apart!!! ROAR YOU LIONS ROAR!!!
CAL @ TOR
@joemcfarland Sucks to lose that one but what a game. Back and forth. Big hits. Great plays on both sides of the ball. Gotta love the #CFL! #Stamps #Argos
@kikiday Can't go wash the car until this game is over. Anything could happen! #Argos #Stamps #CFL
@wwoodsglobal This is crazy..Ray intercepted..Glenn fumbles..and of course the Argos stuffed on 3rd and goal..still tied #argos #stamps
@ax1campbell This is why the #CFL is awesome. #Argos start at Cal 20, possession ends up in a missed FG, Taylor returns it back for the #Stamps. Tie game
EDM @ SSK
Meghan Braithwaite It wasn't the prettiest game at times, but it was still a win over a Western Division Opponent. We'll take it! Go Riders!
Ivan Houle totally defensive game, battle of the QB Sacks
Jordan Japotoczny Good game Defense. You keep us in the whole game. I know we are 2-0 but next week is the week we can tell if we can beat the Elite in the CFL. GO Riders GO a fan from PA,SK. ;)
Colin Kyleigh Coad Yes, the Riders won, and no, both offences "looked" lacking, but it was simply too much pressure on both teams QB's. No matter what though, the Riders are 2-0! GO GREEN!
