MONTREAL -- Former Montreal Alouettes quarterback Adrian McPherson has signed with the AFL's Tampa Bay Storm, the team announced earlier this week.

McPherson, 29, was set to become a free agent on Feb. 15, but was released by the Alouettes 10 days earlier to get a head start on free agency. The Bradenton, FL. native was the fifth best player on CFL.ca's list of Top 10 Free Agents of 2013.

In five years with the Als, McPherson has thrown 243 passes for 1,505 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. The Florida State product is also effective on the ground, as he’s registered 1,035 rushing yards and nine majors on 41 attempts.

The six-foot-three, 220-pound pivot returns for his fourth season in the AFL and first with the Storm.

He began his professional career with the Indiana Firebirds in 2004 and earned AFL Rookie of the Year honours as he completed nearly 60 per cent of his passes for 3,297 yards, 61 touchdowns and only five interceptions. He added an additional 259 yards on the ground along with 19 rushing touchdowns.

Hey you never know. An older Kurt Warner got his start in the Arena League before he was truly discovered.
Yeah...I know I am dreamin'... Still, I wish him well and, yes, he very well could come back to the CFL and be productive.

Well he was tired of being a back up in the CFL but will he earn a starting position in the AFL?

He spent 4 years in Arena. Also nailed down a Rookie Of the Year award in the Arena League as well.

Who says you can never go home. Hope Adrian does well in the Arena league, and I'm sure he is viewing this as a win-win situation. Still playing football and in his home State.

Something tells me the CFL hasn't seen the last of him either. Congrats Adrian.

Maybe he could have had more opportunity to play elsewhere in the CFL. He never showed all that much, considering his potential. Good Luck to him, but I'm doubtful he'll make the Bucs, even with the new Running QB craze that's sweeping the NFL. The problem with that exciting Offensive approach is exactly the RGIII story - eventually you can bet your QB WILL GET WACKED.
