CALGARY -- Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel announced today that non-import kicker Rene Paredes has signed a contract extension. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Paredes earned CFL and West Division All-Star recognition in 2012 — his second season in the league — after converting 93.0 per cent of his field-goal attempts to set a new Stampeders franchise record. It was the second-best single-season success rate in CFL history.
“In his two seasons with the team, Rene has established himself as one of the league’s most reliable kickers,” said Hufnagel. “I look forward to seeing him build on that success in the coming seasons.”
“I have great teammates and great coaches and I’m looking forward to the future and a chance to take that final step to winning a Grey Cup championship.”
