Diedrick joins Alouettes

MONTREAL (CFL.ca wire) -– The Montreal Alouettes announced Monday that Canadian running back Dahrran Diedrick has signed for one year plus an option.

Diedrick was the first Canadian ever to receive a football scholarship to the University of Nebraska. The Eskimos’ first pick in the 2002 draft (third round, 24th overall), Diedrick played in 10 games with Edmonton over the past two seasons. He was with three NFL teams from 2003 through 2005, including stints with the San Diego Chargers, Green Bay
Packers and Washington Redskins. He gained 2745 yards and scored 26 touchdowns on 502 carries with Nebraska.

The Alouettes also added offensive tackles Tango McCauley and Ian Allen to their practice roster.

McCauley played with both the B.C. Lions and Saskatchewan Roughriders from 2003 through 2005. The 27-year-old tackle has also attended training camp with the Dallas Cowboys.

Allen played four seasons in the NFL. He played 19 games with the New York Giants from 2002 through 2003. He played four games with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004 and two games with the Arizona Cardinals in 2005.
