Ricky Ray optimistic about Argos’ offence after win

TORONTO — Toronto Argonauts quarterback Ricky Ray had another big game with over 300 passing yards in Monday night’s 27-24 victory against the Ottawa REDBLACKS. The veteran 37-year-old passer threw for two scores and connected with a variety of different weapons in the game.

Despite the performance, Ray was quick to point out that there was still a lot of room for the offence to grow in the coming months.

“We’ve still got a lot to clean up,” Ray told TSN after the game. “[We] played pretty sloppy tonight, but we’ll take the win.”

The big story for the Argos’ offence was about more than just Ray, though. The Double Blue quarterback connected with an impressive nine different receivers.

While star receiver S.J. Green made a handful of plays, it was Anthony Coombs and Armanti Edwards that led the way in the receiving game.

“That’s the great thing about our group,” Ray said. “We have so many guys that can really step up and make plays. We’ve got a good mix of guys, and we can be a good offence. We’ve just got to clean some things up.”

Toronto’s offence will look to continue growing next week when they face the Saskatchewan Roughriders on the road.
